Wall + Response

“Poets add voices to Clarion Alley murals’ social justice stories,” San Francisco Chronicle (June 22, 2021)

San Mateo County poet Aileen Cassinetto, for instance, found power in the Bay Area community and its compassion through creating her response to the mural of Luis Góngora Pat. Góngora Pat, who was an unhoused man killed in a police shooting in the Mission District in 2016, has been a rallying force for the city.

“This project in particular has not only allowed for interaction between the family of Luís Góngora Pat and community members, but it has also led to a broader conversation on the many interrelated issues on migration, race, police violence and homelessness,” said Cassinetto.
